Avid movie fans will be well-aware of the release of Deadpool & Wolverine today, but what you may not have realised is that the Alpine F1 team (of which Ryan Reynolds is an investor), will be running a special livery at SPA this weekend, showcasing the inaugural colours of Deadpool together with Wolverine claw marks; surely one of the easiest ways to promote your latest film offering!
F1 teams can showcase special livery just a finite number of times each season, and both cars in the team must have substantially the same livery with all sponsorship branding still remaining on the car.
With additional IP rights and advertising law clearances, ensuring other sponsor rights aren't impacted, and getting clearance from the FIA and the Commercial Rights Holder, there are plenty of additional legal hoops to jump through for these special liveries, but, in the words of Deadpool “worth it”!
